According to statistics, Taiwan's imports of small size wire rods with diameters less than 14mm totaled 17,064 tons in August, sliding from 28,178 tons in August, touching the 6-month low.
Since the downstream screw makers have received fewer and fewer order from overseas market, it caused the demand for small size wire rods remain weak.
In August, Taiwan's average import prices of small size wire rods were at NT$21,688/ton, falling by NT$845/ton from NT$22,533/ton in a month ago.
In addition, the country's import values generated by small size wire rods amounted to NT$370 million in August.
